Helping to develop our client’s operational readiness
In 2011 Petrofac began working on the pre-operational phase of the Cygnus development – the largest gas field discovery in the Southern North Sea for 30 years. Since that time we’ve worked to provide a range of services within the Integrated Services Contract including the supply of competent resources, operations and maintenance services, emergency response, maintenance management systems, chemical provision and training services.
ENGIE E&P UK announced first gas from the development in January 2017. The project, which added approximately £1.3 billion to the UK economy and supported nearly 5,000 jobs during its five-year development period, is expected to contribute five per cent of UK gas production.
Following the announcement of first gas, our objective is to continue to support with Brownfield Modifications, through to steady-state Operations.
The field, located 150 kilometres off the coast of Lincolnshire, has an estimated production life exceeding 20 years. Cygnus has two drilling centres; the first is a central facility (Alpha). The second drill centre is a satellite wellhead platform (Bravo) tied back to the Alpha complex. Exported gas arrives at the onshore Bacton Gas Terminal in Norfolk.
