Petrofac in the Middle East

Oman

We have been serving Oman’s energy industry for more than 30 years. Oman has played a major role in our growth and development ever since we delivered our first project in the region back in the late eighties.

Local approach to delivering the most significant energy projects

For more than three decades we have been supporting the Sultanate’s energy industries to design, build, operate, and maintain facilities, as well as developing local workforce competence and generating in-country value.

We aim to be an Omani business in Oman, much like we aim to be perceived as a local business in any of the countries in which we operate.

As well as being the right thing to do, relying on local supply chains and upskilling local talent means we build stronger relationships with local stakeholders and helps us bid on challenging projects in-country. To this end, we want our teams to become more representative of the societies in which they work. Our local country managers are tasked with the role of maximising in-country value.

Integrating in the social fabric of the Sultanate

Over the past three decades, we engaged with local communities and integrated into Omani society. Whether it was taking the lead on initiatives that would improve living conditions in the community, such as cleaning up local beaches, building sports grounds, and donating IT equipment to schools, or when we rallied our people and together raised some US$130,000 towards the repairs of vital infrastructure and delivery of emergency supplies following Cyclone Shaheen, we have shown on many occasions that we are here for the people of Oman, beyond projects and beyond contracts.

Supporting local supply chains

"We are proud of the contribution Petrofac has made over the years towards in-country value creation, supply chain and national workforce development. We generated billions of dollars of in-country value from working with Omani suppliers and contractors. We continue to partner, support and nurture potential in every relationship."
