Petrofac’s Tinrhert team supports local community in Algeria
From the early days of our first project in Algeria we nurtured a strong relationship with the local community. A relationship our Tinrhert team recently reinforced in Southern Algeria.
Our Tinrhert Field Development Project team distributed backpacks, books, and stationery supplies to more than 100 children at the Ebn Badiss Elementary School and Zgouni Ali Complementary School, two schools in Ohanet, an industrial village in the Ilizi Province.
Chawki Bou Khalil, Tinrhert Site Manager, said:
On our recent visit to Ohanet, we distributed backpacks and gifts that will support the schoolchildren’s education. The students were really happy to receive them and it gave us great pleasure to bring joy to their faces.
The project team has also refurbished the airstrip terminal building in Ohanet.
“It was such an honour to rebuild the local terminal as it is one of the main landmarks in Ohanet. It is an old building that was first constructed in the sixties, so we were delighted to overhaul and upgrade it, which will benefit the local community and everyone passing through,” Chawki added.

Strong links with the local community in Algeria
Petrofac’s first project in Algeria was based in Ohanet in the early 2000s. Over the years, the team has developed a strong connection with the community and remained determined to give back to the people of the remote industrial village and wider areas.
Earlier this year, the team also stepped up with donations to the In Amenas hospital. They provided essential medical equipment, including defibrillators, supporting the health and welfare of the people who live and work locally.
