Breaking barriers, building futures
I carried a screwdriver everywhere I went, because I wanted to be prepared to look inside any machine/gadget, if I could.
When Fatmah Alkhzaimi walked into Petrofac on her first day at work, Hour Alhefeiti almost instantly became her role model. Their shared love for mechanics (evident from the above statements), and natural curiosity about the world around them led to long conversations, comparing notes on their individual journeys.
Marking the ninth Emirati Women’s Day in the UAE, we brought Hour and Fatmah together for a candid chat on celebrating their identities, what this day means to them, and their experience.
I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, and would always try to take things apart to check what is under the hood…
Hour, who has been with us for roughly five years now, has a lot to share with Fatmah, who’s been with us for about a year. These young engineers are just two among many Emirati women in Petrofac, who have broken barriers and forged a new path for their compatriots to follow.
From Hour, who comes from a family of engineers, and gives them a perspective of what it is like to be a female in the industry, to Fatmah, who is the first female engineer and the first to work in the private sector in her family – Emirati women at Petrofac have all kinds of stories to tell.
Listen to these dynamic young women talk about paving the way for future generations and making their mark in Petrofac and the industry globally.
Happy Emirati Women’s Day to everyone celebrating today!
