Vikram - Project Support Manager

Location: Sharjah

Year joined in: 2004

What does your role involve?

I am the Project Support Manager for our Iraq projects. I’m responsible for supporting the projects on a complete range of non-technical activities ranging from HR/admin, finance, procurement/services, contracts and commercial.

Tell us about your career journey at Petrofac.

My journey with Petrofac began in February 2004. Time flies fast!

I started as a Commercial Coordinator, responsible for costing of the operations and maintenance projects, and from there moved on to become Commercial Manager, before taking up my current role. It has been a very positive and fulfilling experience.

What's the best thing about working here?

The best thing is the exposure to great opportunities. The other important thing is that the atmosphere here is very encouraging and lively. I am part of quite a small but close team and look forward to coming to work every morning. Our wider colleagues and the management team are also excellent.

What is the most exciting project that you have been involved in to date?

An inspection maintenance and repair project in Iraq. It was very challenging from a logistics and administration procedure point of view. We learnt a lot and overcame challenges by prioritisation and by putting into place policies, procedures and best practices that ensured the projects were a success.

How has Petrofac supported your ongoing development?

Petrofac has greatly supported me in my professional, as well as personal development. I have participated in a number of learning and development courses through Petrofac’s Organisational Development programme, but more importantly I have been blessed to rub shoulders with some truly amazing individuals. This experience and on-the-job training has proved to be priceless. I have been lucky to have been offered opportunities to develop , and progress into different roles. This has helped broaden my skill-set and provided a better understanding of the wider business environment.

What advice would you give to graduates who are looking to join the company?

Petrofac is a great company to work for. The exposure to exciting opportunities is excellent from day one of our Sharjah graduate programme. You work with a diversified work force and some of the best people in the industry. Skills and talent are recognised and rewarded; our EVE Awards are a good example of this. If you are aspiring for a career in oil and gas, where better than Petrofac?
