Two Petrofac faces join decommissioning top table

Two members of Petrofac’s decommissioning team have been appointed as directors of offshore decommissioning forum Decom North Sea, underlining the Group’s growing expertise and integrated capability.

Stuart Wordsworth, Well Abandonment and Integrity Director at SPD, has been re-appointed as a director, and Ian Whitehead, Decommissioning Director at Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations has been appointed for the first time.

“Having a board of highly-experienced directors has been invaluable to the progression of Decom North Sea into the representative body for the North Sea decommissioning sector,” said chief executive Brian Nixon.

“We welcome the election of further industry professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge to support DNS as it continues to develop over the coming 12 months.”

Stuart has more than 18 years’ experience in the industry, specialising in well abandonment for the last six years. He previously ran a well engineering and project management consultancy, advising a range of global customers, including on well plugging and abandonment projects in the Irish Sea and Southern North Sea.

Ian joined Petrofac in 2012 from Wood Group PSN, where he gained experience on high profile decommissioning projects including the Brent Delta and Murchison. As OPO’s Decommissioning Director he acts as a focal point for decommissioning activity including collaborative projects that leverage capability across the whole Group, reflecting Petrofac’s commitment to provide customers with a complete integrated decommissioning service as part of its total asset lifecycle support.
