Structural Designer Rory Gregor wins Apprentice Champion award

Congratulations to Rory Gregor, Senior Structural Designer, who has won the Apprentice Champion award at Scotland’s Modern Apprenticeship Awards 2013, which recognises his commitment, enthusiasm and ability to highlight the benefits of the Modern Apprenticeship programmes to others.

Rory was nominated for the Apprentice Champion award following the successful completion of his modern apprenticeship; a four year plan that involved college, an internal training programme and the ECITB Modern Apprenticeship in Design and Draughting. Due to his hard work and determination, Rory completed his development plan six months ahead of schedule and was promoted to Structural Designer. Since then, Rory has continued to make significant contributions to the projects he has worked on, developing and increasing his own competence level further, which led to his promotion to Senior Structural Designer in June, 2013.

Apprentice Champion RoryJack Douglas, Head of Design, said: “This award is great recognition for all the hard work Rory has put into his role as a mentor and championing the trainee designer role and the importance of apprenticeships to others. His contribution to the Petrofac apprentice scheme is invaluable and this award is truly deserved.”

The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday 13 November at the Glasgow Science Centre in Glasgow, UK.
