SPD to deliver WellAtlas® software in multiple markets for Wintershall

SPD, part of the Petrofac Group, today announces that it has won a contract to deliver its drilling management software programme, WellAtlas®, to oil & gas exploration company Wintershall.

The contract is worth £200,000 over two years, and will see SPD roll-out the full WellAtlas® system in multiple markets, to help deliver a robust and consistent drilling system across all of Wintershall’s different markets and departments.

The software provides a simple user interface, allowing staff from across the business to integrate all aspects of the well delivery process in one place. In order to ensure that it fits the specific needs of Wintershall, it will be fully configured in advance of roll-out. In practice, this process will see SPD technicians working closely with Wintershall to create a bespoke and tailored software package. Specifically, this will include the deployment of various modules – including ‘Lessons Learned’, ‘Action Tracking’, and ‘Risk Tracking’ – to Wintershall’s IT infrastructure. SPD will also provide ongoing training and coaching.

For the first time, the software will give Wintershall a complete well engineering management system, whilst also helping to meet legal requirements for well-drilling activities in areas such as the Norwegian North Sea. Following its initial deployment in Norway, further roll-outs are planned in Germany, Holland, Argentina, the UAE, Libya, the UK and Qatar.

WellAtlas® will provide Wintershall with a single solution for a variety of well delivery environments. It is designed to provide assurance, bring consistency, underpin compliance, deliver auditability and bolster personnel competence.
