Scotvalve Services Limited (Scotvalves) has announced that its new flagship facility in Aberdeenshire will open officially in January – and that it will be creating more than 25 new technical and administrative jobs as a result.
The new state-of-the-art 4.4 acre site in Kintore, which has already started some workshop operations, will allow Scotvalves, part of Petrofac, to increase its staffing by 50% and meet the increasing demand for its services from operators, original equipment manufacturers, service companies and drilling contractors.
Scotvalves will be able to offer significantly improved repair and testing capacity at the purpose-built 4,600 m2 facility, which has been designed to accommodate the largest equipment in the surface and subsea industry and will mean it can safely and efficiently dismantle and inspect equipment regardless of size or configuration.
It has also extended its range of workshop capabilities through investment in heavy lifting, CNC machine tools, welding stations and a custom-designed gas test pit. Measuring seven metres long, six metres wide and six metres deep, the test pit is built to high-tech specification, has pressure test capability for 30,000psi, and can accommodate a wide range of oil and gas pressure control equipment.
Scotvalves has also gained accreditation from the American Petroleum Institute (API), the internationally recognised oil and gas trade association, following a stringent audit process. The accreditation, covering three categories, enables Scotvalves to manufacture and apply the API monogram to 12 well control product categories, which will service the surface to subsea markets.
