Scotvalves opens new state-of-the-art facility

Scotvalves, part of the Petrofac Group, hosted an Open Day to mark the official opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.

Scotvalves welcomed more than 70 customers through its doors for a tour of its 4.4 acre purpose built site, as well as some distinguished guests, including The Right Honourable Sir Malcolm Bruce, MP for Gordon.

The facility has been designed to accommodate the largest equipment in the surface and subsea industry and has Aberdeen’s largest fully-enclosed gas pressure test pit - measuring seven metres long, six metres wide and six metres deep, the test pit is built to high-tech specification, has pressure test capability for 30,000psi, and can accommodate a wide range of oil and gas pressure control equipment.

Scotvalves provides refurbishment and recertification services to oil and gas pressure control and process equipment for both on and offshore. The expansion of this facility has improved its repair and testing capacity, which means Scotvalves can safely and efficiently dismantle and inspect equipment regardless of size or configuration.

Scotvalves has also extended its range of workshop capabilities through investment in heavy lifting, CNC machine tools and welding stations to meet growing industry demand.

The event was drawn to a close by Sir Malcolm Bruce, who after enjoying his tour marked the occasion by unveiling a ceremonial plaque. In his speech, Sir Malcolm Bruce said: "I’m really impressed with the facilities that I’ve seen here today. In the region we have all kinds of companies, of which this is one of the leading edge ones, doing really fantastic, high technology and precision engineering to serve the industry."
