Production Recommences on Thistle Alpha

Petrofac, as duty holder of the Thistle Alpha installation on behalf of Lundin Britain Limited (Lundin), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lundin Petroleum AB, can confirm that following a fire on the platform on 25 November 2007 which resulted in a suspension of operations, production of hydrocarbons resumed on Saturday 12th January 2008.

Petrofac has been served with three notifications from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in relation to the incident. One notification, relating to the emergency response procedures on board the installation, has already been closed. The Company is working closely with the HSE and Lundin to remedy the remaining two notifications.

The investigation into the incident is being undertaken jointly by Petrofac & Lundin in conjunction with the relevant authorities and specialists and is proceeding to plan.
