Petrofac Wins Pre-operation Contract for New Installation on UKCS

Petrofac, the international oil & gas service provider, today announces that it has been awarded a pre-operations contract for a new build semi-submersible floating production facility (FPF) to be deployed on the UK Continental Shelf. The multi-million pound contract, commencing immediately, is with ATP Oil & Gas (UK) Limited (ATP) and will run until 2014.

Petrofac, whose experience and skills in floating production were factors in ATP’s decision to award the contract, will be providing operations design, construction, hook up and commissioning assessments prior to the handover of the asset to the operations phase. The FPF will be deployed in the Cheviot field, located in the Northern North Sea.

The pre-operations support, which will be managed by Petrofac’s team in Aberdeen, will specifically focus on the design, operability and deployment of the FPF. The uniquely designed deep-draft semi-submersible is currently being built in Qidong, China and Houma, Louisiana, United States, with a Petrofac team seconded to each location to provide the pre-operations support.

Bill Dunnett, managing director, Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations, said: “We are very pleased to be able to work with ATP to deliver this new build installation. Floating production is an area of significant growth for Petrofac, and major Greenfield projects such as this exciting development will benefit from Petrofac’s ability to deploy a full range of services in the pre-operations phase.”
