Petrofac Training Share Health & Safety Expertise with the Stewart Milne Group

Petrofac Training, a leading provider of training and consultancy solutions, is helping Scottish house builder The Stewart Milne Group to strengthen its health and safety (H&S) practices.

In a drive to enhance its stringent H&S policies within the workplace, Petrofac Training delivered a Directing Safely course to a group of senior directors at the property development company.

Petrofac Training has delivered the Directing Safely course to the construction, shipping, and oil & gas industries for almost 30 years. Directing Safely is an IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) accredited course designed to provide directors and senior management with an understanding of legal responsibilities, financial and moral issues relating to H&S within organisations. It also enables executives to review policies and strategies and where necessary introduce changes to enhance safety culture.

As a highly safety conscious company, The Stewart Milne Group has extensive safety systems in place, and wanted to build on this by developing an even stronger H&S culture by reviewing its existing strategies.

Commenting on working with The Stewart Milne Group, Gordon Caird, operations manager - Europe, Petrofac Training said: “With today’s increasing pressure to achieve and maintain acceptable standards in H&S practice, our courses have helped to improve the safety awareness and behaviours of both individuals and organisations across industry.

“We are delighted to be working with The Stewart Milne Group and helping the directors to maintain and build upon the H&S practices already in place. Like Petrofac Training, The Stewart Milne Group makes H&S a priority and we’re happy to share our knowledge in this area to help strengthen strategies and policies, and ultimately increase safety across their workforce.”

Karen Catto, HR director for the Stewart Milne Group, said: “Directing Safely reinforced our aim of ensuring all our employees are operating in a safe environment. The course clarified the ways in which we, as directors, can add value to the business through an improved understanding of our role and responsibilities in maintaining a safety culture.

“Although it’s clearly a very serious issue, the course was fun, interactive and challenging. Tailored specifically to address the issues our business faces, it also offered a two-way sharing of experiences enabling us to look at the ways we can work together to address H&S issues.”

Petrofac Training can respond to the needs of their customers, delivering training programmes and courses tailored to meet their exact needs. For more information on the Directing Safely course, or any of the 200 training courses within their global portfolio, please see www.petrofactraining.com.
