Petrofac shortlisted for two IMechE awards

Petrofac’s Plant Asset Management (PAM) consulting business was shortlisted for two awards at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Wessex Region Engineering Excellence Awards this month.

The awards celebrated engineering talent from across the region, and recognised the ground-breaking work done by individuals and organisations.

Two PAM employees, Dave Capeling and Paul Eastwood, were shortlisted for Outstanding Project of the Year as a result of their work on auditable assurance of asset integrity minimum requirements. This work has helped ensure that the safety, environmental and business needs are met for over 40 onshore and offshore global projects, ranging in value from US$440 million to US$5 billion.

Another Petrofac employee, Simone Tacconelli, was shortlisted for the Young Member of the Year award for the responsive way he investigated excessive vibration on the gas export pipework of an FPSO in offshore Ghana. He helped identify and resolve a relatively unknown phenomenon with high potential for fatigue failure, loss of containment and release of high pressure hydrocarbon gas.

Geoff Baker, Senior VP-Consulting commented: “As a Vice President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers I’ve seen first-hand the incredible focus the organisation puts on world class projects with high levels of delivery. It’s humbling to see two of PAM’s projects shortlisted that meet this focus and help demonstrate the breadth of skills we have in the business from our newest talent to our most senior employees.”
