Petrofac engineers mentor construction trainees at Jazan refinery
Petrofac, the international service provider to the oil and gas industry, is continuing to develop its local Saudi talent.
Petrofac engineers in Saudi Arabia are mentoring 80 Saudi construction trainees at the Jazan refinery project. The engineers volunteered to become mentors as part of our Saudi Arabian Work Experience (SAWE) scheme. This comprehensive scheme is an integral part of Petrofac’s Saudi Future Generation Programme that includes engineering, construction, supervisory, and safety skills training.
The trainees, who attend local high schools, will go through more than 160 hours of classroom training, and 12 months of on-the-job work. The Jazan Refinery project, located in Baish, Saudi Arabia, will give the trainees hands-on experience of welding, pipe fitting, rebar fixing, and carpentry – all with the support of their mentors.
This training scheme gives Petrofac the opportunity to continue to develop local Saudi talent and to create sustainable skills within the community.
