Petrofac Celebrates Successful Environment Month

Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, is celebrating the success of its group-wide environment month initiative. Designed to encourage Petrofac’s 10,000 employees to make a positive difference to the environment, some 30 individual initiatives took place across the group’s global sites.

Throughout the month of November, Petrofac organised events under four main themes; reduce, recycle, educate and replace, all with the aim of minimising the impact that individuals have on the environment. Many of the activities were suggested by employees to help local communities, charities and the wider environment.

Highlights of the campaign included the planting of more than 1,000 trees within the locations of Sharjah, Woking, Aberdeen and Chennai. Further to this, a vast array of environmental events and initiatives took place at these locations and in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Mumbai, Kyrgyzstan and Montrose. Events included the collection of unwanted clothing and books for charities, beach and river clean-ups, environmental lectures and health walks.

John Methven, director of group HSSE and integrity assurance for Petrofac, said: “This was the first time we extended the initiative across the whole group and it has proven to be a major success. Following the achievements of environment month and the awareness this has created within the group, we hope employees will continue to consider the environment in all aspects of their working and personal lives.”
