Petrofac Brownfield Extends Support to Venture Production

Petrofac Brownfield has been awarded the conceptual and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study and the follow-on engineering and construction activities by Venture Production for the Goosander field.  The Goosander topsides reception facilities will be installed on the Kittiwake platform.

The Goosander development project, with first oil planned for August 2006, comprises a single production well which will be tied back to the Kittiwake platform through a subsea bundle.  Production will be supported by gas injection and water injection.  The field is located approximately 11 km north-west of the Kittiwake installation.

The contract has an estimated value of £8 million.

Bill Bayliss, director of Petrofac Brownfield, said: “This is our first significant piece of brownfield work for Venture and is testament to the close working relationship that the team has fostered over recent months.  The scope fits exactly within our Brownfield business model and we are extremely pleased in Venture’s refreshing outlook in providing Petrofac the clear responsibility to deliver this project under the management of our own systems of work.”

Commenting on the award, Chris Bird, Field Development Manager for Venture says: “We’re excited to be able to use an engineering organisation specifically set up to deliver our kind of expectations.  We look forward to being able to build on the synergies with the Petrofac operations team who has been the duty holder on the Kittiwake platform since Venture took over operatorship.  This is a high profile project for Venture where effective project performance is vitally important. Bill Bayliss’s team are working very hard to deliver this performance and we have high expectations of them.”
