Petrofac Awarded Contract in Southern North Sea

Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, is expanding its Southern North Sea (SNS) operations after being awarded a two-year contract, worth approximately £10 million, by Centrica Resources Limited (Centrica).

The contract has been won by Petrofac’s Facilities Management business and entails modifications, maintenance and management services to expand the Grove field, which is located approximately 130km east of Great Yarmouth and 6km west of the meridian line between the UK and Holland.

The contract involves Petrofac drawing on its design, fabrication and installation expertise to integrate topsides equipment for the platform well, Grove South, with two subsea tieback wells, Grove East and Grove West. This element of the contract also includes replacing the platform control system, which will be provided from specialist company ABB and upgraded by Petrofac to suit Centrica’s needs. Following on from this scope, Petrofac will undertake operations and maintenance activities for Centrica into next year.

Petrofac will incorporate onshore design and onshore construction work, managing the contract from its Great Yarmouth office and warehouse facility, with Normally Unmanned Installation (NUI)-based offshore intervention work to install and commission the new equipment.

Steve Bullock, vice president, operations management, Petrofac Facilities Management, said: “Petrofac’s activity in the SNS is growing through our reputation to meet customer needs and deliver. We have developed a strong working relationship with Centrica and this latest contract allows us to further demonstrate our capabilities by integrating onshore and offshore operations.

“The SNS is an exciting area of development in the UK Continental Shelf and we’re proud to be involved in this.”
