Petrofac and Dubai Petroleum to open Training Centre

Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, today announces a joint agreement with the Government of Dubai oil company, Dubai Petroleum Establishment (DPE) to invest in, and develop, a safety and technical training centre in Dubai.

The Dubai Petroleum Training Centre (DPTC) will be managed and operated by Petrofac’s training arm, Petrofac Training. The facility will be equipped to meet the safety and technical training needs of the oil & gas industry throughout the Middle East as well as servicing the other industries within the energy sector. The centre will be located at DPE’s headquarters in Dubai and is due to open this summer.

In addition to the development of the training centre, Petrofac Training will provide DPE with a managed training solution, initially encompassing safety training courses, with technical courses planned for the future.

Walter Thain, vice president, sales & marketing, Petrofac Training, said: “Petrofac is delighted to have the opportunity to work with DPE on this exciting venture. We are confident that we will be able to provide a world-class training centre for the Middle East, which will be well equipped to ensure companies in this region have access to quality competency-based training. The establishment of the Dubai facility will be a significant achievement within our programme of global development of safety and technical training facilities to support one of the industry’s most critical challenges in growing, developing and maintaining competent workforces.”
