Petrofac Training, a leading provider of training and consultancy solutions to the international energy industries, today announces the official opening of its new training centre in Sakhalin to be operated by its technical training business, PKT.

One hundred and fifty guests are expected to attend the opening event, which is scheduled to commence at 12pm. Among the guests to be welcomed by the centre general director, Malcolm Young, will be Alexander Kislicin, vice-governor of Sakhalin region and Evgeniy Safonof, head of Sakhalin’s department of education. The opening will be followed by a tour of the centre and a demonstration of the state-of-the-art training facilities.

The Sakhalin Technical Training Centre (STTC) has been developed to meet an increased demand for competent workforces in Sakhalin and demonstrates Petrofac Training’s commitment to sustainable development for the island. Customers at the STTC will achieve the necessary standards of competence required by the Russian Federation of Mandatory and Vocational Training. The centre houses the latest competence-based training aids and systems combining underpinning theory with hands-on practical training.

Phil Costelloe, regional director – Asia Pacific for Petrofac Training, said: “I am delighted to launch this new training facility, demonstrating our continued commitment to sustainable growth in Sakhalin. We expect to have a long association with the Island and the industry we support.”
