Now showing in 3D: introduction to oil and gas industry

Following the recent acquisition of e-learning specialist Oilennium Ltd, Petrofac Training Services (PTS) has launched its ‘Introduction to Oil & Gas’ e-learning course.

The course, developed by Oilennium, offers an interactive overview of the oil and gas industry: from exploration and production upstream to processing and transmission downstream. Through the completion of the 12-module course, the user gains an understanding of how hydrocarbon fields are found and developed, industry terminology, and the technical know-how.

The Oilennium team focused on making the course completely interactive, ensuring that it is as user-friendly as possible. To enhance the learning experience, all modules include full voiceover guidance and colourful tri-dimensional (3D) animations.

The course can be accessed online from any device with internet access - a perfect solution to the challenge of training employees working on rotation or offshore.

“For years, operators and services companies have been struggling to offer standardised, quality training that complements the traditional classroom approach by reinforcing key points long after the trainee leaves the classroom,” said Kevin Keable, Managing Director of Oilennium.

“Not only is ‘Introduction to Oil & Gas’ cost-effective, it’s the perfect starting point for employees new to the industry. It’s an excellent method of training technical and non-technical staff so that they can work more effectively with colleagues from other functions and disciplines. This course is ideal for anyone who needs to understand the industry as a whole,” he added.
