Nine engineers complete Petrofac Malaysia’s first graduate scheme

Nine enthusiastic Malaysian graduates are celebrating the completion of their two-year graduation programme - the first of its kind for our Integrated Energy Services office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This graduate scheme incorporated an immersive training programme centred on technical training, on-the-job learning and people skills development.

Our graduates started their Petrofac journey in October 2013, and over the two years they spent on the scheme, each completed four different assignments spanning different disciplines and project types.

Toward the end of their second year, graduates were allowed to select their chosen area of expertise.

So far, nine graduates have completed the programme, and twenty are still currently on the scheme.

Ana Yasmin, Petrofac Malaysia’s HR Director, is pleased with the results of the programme:

‘It’s been a delightful experience to see each and every graduate grow in their roles, and it is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.’

The new graduates themselves have greatly benefited from the two-year scheme.

‘The life as a Graduate Trainee is a climb, but the view is great,’ said Farah Afiqah Binti Mohd Faiz, Junior Engineer – Process.

‘Basically, it’s an odyssey of discovery, learning and development for a newbie like me.  I managed to go to offshore, initiate a workshop that involved offshore and onshore team and successfully presented an initiative to our management team. It’s been a memorable experience and journey and when there is a will, there is always a way for it!”

Muhammad Naim Bin Zulkifli, Management of Change, found the variety of learning on offer to be the most beneficial aspect of the scheme.

‘The graduate programme has given me the opportunity to experience difference fields of the engineering discipline relative to the upstream oil and gas industry, which was a huge eye-opener for understanding the coordination between the departments. All of these experiences play a big role in my career development.’

The graduates will stay on at Petrofac for a further year to develop their skills and consolidate their learning.

Congratulations to our graduates!
