Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, has won one of the most coveted oil & gas accolades at the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards, an annual event which is now affectionately known as the oil & gas industry “Oscars”.
The Company won the ‘Succeeding Through People – Managing Talent’ award, sponsored by Chevron. The award recognises the importance of learning and development and managing talent, and was aimed at companies in the oil & gas sector which are creating a culture in which employees are developed to be business leaders and technical champions for the future. Petrofac was asked to demonstrate how learning and development programmes support long-term business development and successful business plan delivery.
More than 400 industry guests and dignitaries attended the black tie event and paid tribute to those demonstrating excellence in the oil & gas sector. David Cairns, MP, presented the award to Steve Bullock, VP, operations management, Petrofac Facilities Management, who was delighted that Petrofac’s efforts in talent management had once again been recognised by the industry.
“The undoubted success of the Petrofac organisation, which has led to a rapid and continuing growth of the Company, doubling in size over the last three years, is very much a reflection on the quality and achievements of our staff. We are committed to developing our people through graduate and professional development programmes and our Petrofac Academy that teaches future leaders of the Company the ‘Petrofac Way’. Scottish Enterprise Grampian put a lot of time and effort into the event and they are to be congratulated on maintaining the high quality of the event. Certainly, Petrofac staff that attended the event had an enjoyable evening."
This is the 23rd year of the awards and the ceremony took place on 20 March 2008 at Mercure Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland. This is the fifth time in successive years that Petrofac has been successful in the awards, with two previous commendations in 2004 and 2006, and a win in the ‘Succeeding Through People’ category in 2005. Last year, Petrofac also won the Internationalisation of Scottish Skills award.
