First Minister Opens Extension to Bridge View

First Minister, Alex Salmond, visited Petrofac’s Bridge View office in Aberdeen to officially open a new office extension which has been developed as part of the Company’s continued commitment to the North Sea.

The original 46,000 sq ft offices at Bridge View have been extended to create a 126,000 sq ft facility for 1,000 Petrofac employees. The additional 80,000 sq ft grade A office space is the largest single new office building to be constructed in Aberdeen city centre for more than five years.

This development brings together staff from Petrofac Facilities Management, part of the Operations Services division of the , who have co-located within Bridge View from several other offices within the city.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: “"I am delighted to open this new office space. It is yet another encouraging sign for the oil & gas industry here in the North East. It is a credit to Petrofac for its commitment & long-term view.

“This is an exciting time to work in the oil & gas sector in Scotland. Recent developments, which include the opening of the Shell Engineering Training Scheme at Banff and Buchan College and the new Oil and Gas Industry Skills Academy show an industry that has a long life ahead of it.

“This excellent new office space will house more skilled professionals who can help deliver the world-class services that will help the industry to thrive in Scotland and beyond.”

Ayman Asfari, Petrofac Group chief executive, and Gordon East, managing director of Petrofac Facilities Management, welcomed the First Minister to Bridge View, where he met staff, received a tour of the building and unveiled a commemorative plaque.

Gordon East said: “Our business has experienced significant growth within the last 18 months. By increasing the size of our main offices here at Bridge View we have been able to bring together 1,000 people in one building, which will serve to create a more cohesive approach to our operations and a unified spirit amongst our teams.”
