Construction Week Oman Awards: Ghazeer wins us Project of the Year
Our impressive delivery of the Ghazeer project was recognised at the 2021 Construction Week Oman Awards, securing the ‘Commercial Project of the Year’ title.
Judges named it the "standout winner", saying that it has economically proven to be "a very positive" project for Oman. We were also commended for our commitment to training and employing local graduates.
Safety and in-country value (ICV) key to our success
This is all testament to our approach to creating value in-country. Our client, bp, had initially set a demanding ICV target of US$275 million, equating to around a third of the total project value. When we handed over the new facility, the true ICV value had exceeded US$311 million – around 13% more than originally anticipated.
Coming in ahead of schedule safely was another key factor, with the project delivered two months early. An impressive 19 million work hours were completed, without a single lost-time incident (LTI).
The runner up award went to the architecture and engineering consultant, SSH, who secured Construction Week’s ‘highly commended’ accolade for its work on the Omantel headquarters.
Well done again to everyone involved for their best-in-class performance and congratulations on taking home this award.
