British Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris OBE, Visits the Ticleni Field

Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider today welcomed the British Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris OBE, to the Ticleni oilfield in Gorj Country, South-western Romania. The Ambassador was accompanied by Liviu Buzila, Head of UKTI Romania, in a series of regional visits to companies operating in Romania who have links to the UK.

Petrofac was awarded the Production Enhancement services contract for the Ticleni field and its eight satellite fields by Petrom in July last year. Petrofac took full operational responsibility for the asset and around 900 staff in November, following a successful three month transition period. Under the terms of the contract, Petrofac provides a range of services to increase production through improving recovery rates, optimising operational efficiencies and investing to upgrade the facilities.

Commenting on the visit, the Ambassador said: “I am delighted to visit Petrofac’s facilities and see its operations in Ticleni. Although an international group, as a FTSE100 company with around 5,000 staff in the UK, Petrofac plays an important part in our economy and we are delighted that they continue to grow both at home and abroad in places like Romania. The contract that Petrofac signed with Petrom last year will establish a long-term presence in the local market and will also continue to significantly improve the production output at Ticleni.”

Thanking the Ambassador for his visit, Willie Toner, deputy general manager, Romania concluded: “By working closely with Petrom, Petrofac has been able to enter into the Romanian oil & gas market successfully. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with Petrom and to growing our business in Romania.”
