TurkStream gas pipeline inaugurated

The TurkStream gas pipeline has been inaugurated at a ceremony in Istanbul, attended by the presidents of Turkey and Russia.

TurkStream directly connects Russia’s large gas reserves to the Turkish network, providing reliable energy supplies for Turkey, south and southeast Europe.

Petrofac recently completed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) fast track contract with South Stream Transport B.V. for the development of the project’s gas receiving terminal near Kıyıköy on the Turkish Black Sea coast, which was successfully handed over to the client in December 2019. Petrofac also constructed the two lines from the shore to the receiving terminal.

From the receiving terminal, one of the two underground onshore pipelines will connect to the existing Turkish gas network at Luleburgaz. The other pipeline will continue to the Turkish-Bulgarian border, where it connects to the Bulgarian gas network.
