Petrofac launches new jobs scheme to help engineers overcome career break bias

Petrofac, a leading provider of services to the global energy industry, has formed a partnership with STEM Returners to help engineers get back into science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related work after a career break.

STEM Returners will source people with skills across multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, instrument and process to join Petrofac’s teams in Aberdeen.

The four fully paid placements allow people to be re-integrated into an inclusive environment upon their return to work.

Research by STEM Returners revealed the challenges people who have had a career break face. Recruitment bias is the main barrier to entry, and this programme ensures people bypass that potential hurdle.

Natalie Desty, Director of STEM Returners said:
