Continuing to support communities affected by Oman’s Cyclone Shaheen

Petrofac’s team in Oman is collaborating with Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) to continue its support to the communities most affected by the recent Cyclone Shaheen. A staff fundraising appeal saw colleagues from across the region donate and the Company has allocated further funds to support those affected and help the recovery efforts.

The Petrofac donations will support OCO’s work to repair vital infrastructure and continued efforts in running trucks to supply emergency relief materials. The organisation is working in coordination with the social development committees in the country’s various affected governorates. The essential items provided will support the health and welfare of the communities who live and work locally.

Dr Khalid Al Jahwari, Petrofac’s Oman Country Manager said,

“Oman is a strong nation and we have always stepped up to provide help to others. I am proud of our team’s response to the crisis. As well as the many donations from colleagues, we have been inundated with volunteers offering their support. It is our privilege to work together with Oman Charitable Organization and we look forward to helping the people most affected by this catastrophe to rebuild their lives.”

In addition to the donations, Petrofac teams on the ground have been on the frontline volunteering and providing aid to impacted families. Employees have given hands-on support, with crews travelling by bus from Petrofac’s Muscat office to Wilayat AlKhaboura where they have provided help to local community members, by clearing storm damaged properties.

Ahmed Al Yafai, Team Lead, Human Resources said,

“As an integral part of the community, we stand by the people in Oman. The Petrofac family wanted to help and have done so in many ways. Our crews on the ground stepped up quickly, reaching and assisting the people of the affected areas. Colleagues have donated from their salaries through our PetroCare fundraising initiative, and the Company are providing funds. The work to rebuild will go on and we are delighted to continue in playing our part.”
