Petrofac Wins BP North Sea Training Management Contract

Petrofac Training, the leading provider of competence-led training and consultancy solutions to the international energy industries, has been awarded a three-year training management solutions contract with BP.

The contract, worth approximately US$5 million, will see Petrofac deliver a full administrative training package to BP’s North Sea business. This will include identifying, procuring and scheduling all training requirements for more than 2000 UK-based BP employees working in the North Sea.

Petrofac Training’s service development director, Peter Conner, said: “This is a significant contract and we are delighted to be able to replicate the good work we have previously carried out for BP in the Gulf of Mexico and Sharjah, in the UK. These existing relationships will add value to the service we provide through cross fertilisation of knowledge.”

The training administration contract, which will create ten new jobs at Petrofac Training’s Montrose facility, will allow for the transfer of knowledge within the BP organisation, offering savings in training costs through enhanced buying power.

BP’s HR director, Ken Boyle, said: “Petrofac’s training management package will enable us to identify and provide the appropriate training for our employees, in order to maintain our high operational standards. We see many benefits of working with Petrofac and they were successful in the tendering process for a number of reasons, including the company’s experience, track record within the oil & gas industry and considerable knowledge of BP across our global operations.”
