IVETA KRAUJUTIENE, HSE COORDINATOR

I am a civil engineer by trade... with more than eight years of experience in construction in Lithuania and Sweden. I am the HSE coordinator for this project and joined the Petrofac team last summer. I‘m really proud of my role – my mission on this project is to help achieve excellent results without any incidents. I'm a perfectionist, so I always do the best I can.

Some of my responsibilities include... solving technical and organisational issues when carrying out different works, assessing the duration of works so that they do not endanger the safety of workers, and coordinating the activities of workers and sharing information on the prevention measures we have in place. I also make sure that workers maintain order and cleanliness at the construction site, manage the maintenance of work equipment and facilities, and that they are complying with Lithuanian health and safety legislation.

There is a simple proverb in Lithuania... One person swims downstream for 16 years smoothly without emotion, while another swims upstream for eight years with all their strength and they are happy and strong. The essence of the story is that it doesn't matter how long you work for one company, what matters is your experience and the lessons you learn along the way, because that's how we grow and develop.

Your safety first... We must think like that all the time. I know what it's like when someone you love doesn‘t come home. My husband was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018; we fought until the summer of 2021 but he is now gone. That‘s the biggest lesson I‘ve learned in my life – value and protect your life, because we only get one.

I’m from a city in Lithuania called Venta and have a six-year-old son who is my world... Everyone is extremely friendly and close in the city, because it is important for us to know how our neighbours and friends are feeling. This creates a sense of community. I also apply this communication model to work – always listen and give advice and help when needed. I‘ve always wanted to help people since I was little. When I started last summer, a colleague approached me and said, "If you need help, always say, you are part of our team, you are Petrofac". I knew then that this was the right company for me.
