In 2011, Petrofac Training Services worked with Saudi Aramco to design and deliver training programmes aimed at ensuring competence amongst their operators and technicians. There was a need for the staff to be trained to competently operate and maintain their first offshore, high pressure sour gas platform.
The scope of the training covered well services, technical, HSE and emergency response training and development, for approximately thirty-five Saudi Aramco operators, technicians, supervisors and trainers in process, mechanical, instrument and electrical disciplines.
The training took place over seven months and included:
The training for operations and maintenance delegates focussed on relevant disciplines and systems:
The well services operators were trained in slick line, coiled tubing, blow off preventer and well control courses.
Training covered underpinning knowledge, design basis, control narratives, cause and effect, plant emergencies and safety and standard operating procedures specific to Saudi Aramco Karan Offshore Project.
An emergency response manual for the offshore Karan Project was developed and provided to delegates. It included special emphasis on behavioural safety, risk assessment, isolation and general safety.
By combining our experience and global capabilities, we are one of the few organisations in the industry that can provide customised technical, HSE and emergency response training, as one complete training and competency development solution.
