Asset performance improvement

About 50% of offshore platforms are beyond their original design life.*1

The fact that these platforms continue to operate successfully in often difficult and dangerous situations is evidence of the quality of their design and build. Yet the risks are clear, whether these are to safety, reliability or production levels.

We can help improve the performance of your assets. The tools and methodology that we use are based on our extensive experience of getting the best out of assets, whatever their age or situation.

We identify and deliver the improvement opportunities needed for you to continue to meet your business objectives for safety, asset integrity, production and reliability successfully.

Our experienced technical consultants, in combination with our propriety and industry standard processes and tools are able to design, implement and sustain asset performance improvement.

Our software solutions show the status of your assets, allowing for better informed and quicker operational decisions, reducing downtime and risk. It’s our goal to help you achieve operational excellence and our experience of measuring, benchmarking and delivering industry best practice means we are ideally placed to do this.

Our approach to improving asset performance covers a wide range of tools and methodologies including:

  • maintenance optimisation
  • reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) modelling
  • reliability improvement programmes
  • materials management and spares optimisation
  • risk-based inspection (RBI) programme optimisation
  • process safety and performance standards for existing operations
  • condition-based maintenance
  • root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
  • management of change programmes and training/knowledge transfer
  • management of ageing assets and life extension
  • development and rollout of integrity management programmes

In excess of 60% of hydrocarbon releases from piping systems can be attributed to corrosion and/or vibration induced fatigue mechanisms.*2

Our breadth of capabilities can be applied to minimise these threats to asset integrity. This includes the combination of risk based inspection and piping vibration risk management supported by corrosion management and fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments where defects are found. This helps to reduce the likelihood of corrosion and fatigue related failures.

Software solutions

CBMnet is a global service that provides managers of oil and gas assets with a complete, internet-enabled, condition-based maintenance service.

From strategy development to system configuration and set-up, right through to data interpretation, we will deliver the information you need to support maintenance decisions and conduct risk assessments.

Our service is the ideal way to ensure a true condition based approach is achieved for your maintenance requirements.

Now in its fourth revision CBMnet has been operating for over 10 years in 15 countries worldwide. It covers more than 85 assets including: oil platforms, FPSOs, onshore processing plants and pumping stations. CBMnet has close to 1,000 users and our analysts have diagnosed more than 3,500 machines producing more than 87,000 reports and 6,500 maintenance recommendations.

Our success stories

Some of the projects we’ve worked on in this area include:

  • enhancing the quality of maintenance job plans on 10 offshore platforms in the North Sea
  • developing and implementing an RBI methodology and programme on mature onshore operating assets and a new offshore facility for a European based operating company
  • the set up and ongoing management of a condition-based maintenance programme for 19 vessels for a major FPSO company
  • developing and implementing standard equipment maintenance strategies for a number of major operating companies, leading to significant improvement in terms of the quality, standardisation and optimisation of maintenance programmes for existing assets
  • a maintenance optimisation programme driving cost reductions and enhanced workforce utilisation for a leading North Sea Operator
