Responsibility

As General Counsel, Matthew is responsible for the Legal, Compliance and Company Secretariat functions. A key part of this is ensuring that all stakeholders in the business have access to relevant, timely and commercially valuable legal advice, whilst ensuring that the Group’s business is conducted in accordance with all applicable law and regulation.

Experience

Matthew has over 20 years’ experience, with 13 of those in General Counsel and Senior Executive roles, both in the UK and the Middle East. He began his legal career in private practice, training at a City of London law firm and later moving to a Wall Street practice. He then transitioned into industry and was General Counsel and Company Secretary at Kier Group plc for 5 years before moving to Dubai in 2009, joining Future Pipe Industries Group as General Counsel and later being appointed an Executive Director. Before joining Petrofac, he was Programme Director in the Special Projects team at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Matthew has an LLB (Hons) in Business Law from City, University of London and is a Solicitor (England and Wales) and a member of the New York Bar.
