Expanding offshore EPCI

Our offshore business has been delivering operations, maintenance and brownfield engineering for over 30 years, particularly in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

Combining our strong onshore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) heritage, we continue to build a world-class offshore EPC capability.

In 2012, we created a new service, Offshore Capital Projects (OCP), to consolidate our SURF (Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines) and EPC offering.

Our strong presence in this sector contributed over US$1.4 billion in revenue in 2012. Recent successes include large scale offshore developments in the UKCS (Dons and Greater Stella Area) and Malaysia (Cendor, West Desaru, Berantai and Sepat), as well as projects in Cameroon, Nigeria, Tunisia and the UAE. The award of the deepwater Lakach project management contract for PEMEX in Mexico and the SARB3 project in Abu Dhabi, our largest offshore EPIC project to date, demonstrate the opportunity for us to broaden our market-leading EPC capability offshore.

Expertise and investment

The acquisition of KW Limited, our subsea pipeline consulting and engineering services subsidiary, gives Petrofac 13 years of international SURF expertise and supports our extension into the growing deepwater market. We will invest significantly in our assets over the next five years, allowing us to access top-tier EPC opportunities and help us stand out among competitors.

Our offshore capabilities include:

  • Facilities Engineering - Design to developing and operating fixed facilities, encompassing conceptual design, FEED, detailed design and EPIC of offshore platforms, including jackets and topside modules
  • Floating Production - Building and operating floating production facilities. Recently expanded capability as a result of the acquisition of additional vessels (3 x FPSO, 1 x MOPU)
  • Subsea Engineering - Subsea field development. Services include conceptual design, FEED, detailed design of pipelines, flexibles, umbilicals, risers, subsea manifolds, including flow assurance and field architecture designs
