Training business secures global project with BG Group

25 April, 2012

Petrofac Training Services’ (PTS) team in Houston has secured a US$3.1 million contract with BG Group, a world leader in natural gas. Under the contract, PTS will develop a training programme for BG Group centred on Control of Work (CoW) processes and the efficiency of these in the work place.

Awarded in January 2012, and due to run throughout 2013, the contract requires PTS to deliver the CoW training programme to BG Group employees in five countries.

The contract win follows our successful delivery of CoW training to BG Group on a smaller scale in 2011, when it selected PTS to develop and deliver CoW training and provide on-site coaching on a regional basis.

The aim of the latest project is to ensure that BG Group staff and contractors are appropriately trained, have relevant industry experience and can be certified as competent in BG Group’s Control of Work Standard.

The programme will be initially rolled-out in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago from April 2012. This programme will include on-site delivery and coaching to end-users as well as training for the local employees who wish to become trainers and who will sustain the programme going forward.

Following this initial implementation, there are plans to roll-out the CoW programme in Australia, Egypt, India and Kazakhstan.

We will continue to provide support to deliver classroom-based training and on-the-job coaching, and will leverage existing project facilitators to promote local delivery, where possible.

Tony Littler, regional director of PTS Americas said, “Working with BG Group, a multi-national company with a global reach, to develop and implement a Control of Work programme, is a very positive development for us.

“PTS is proud to work with BG Group on this joint initiative. We feel that an enhanced Control of Work programme can add value to the participants, benefit the industry, and provide a platform of safety for employees to competently perform.”
