Hasdrubal Gas Plant Contract Award in Tunisia
15 November, 2006
Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, has been awarded a US$400 million lump sum turnkey contract by BG Tunisia Limited (BGT) and Entreprise Tunisienne D’Activités Pétrolières (ETAP), the Tunisian state-owned oil and gas exploration and production company, to build the new Hasdrubal onshore gas processing facility and the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production facility. The facility will be located on the Tunisian coast between La Skhira and Sfax in Tunisia and is scheduled for completion in 2009.
The project scope covers project management, detailed design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing of the new gas plant. Petrofac will be utilising the capabilities and expertise of Pireco, a local construction and fabrication company, as its main construction sub-contractor for the project.
Commenting on the award, Maroun Semaan, chief executive, Petrofac Engineering and Construction said: “We are delighted to win the Hasdrubal project for BGT and ETAP which will be an important project for our core gas plant business.”
Ayman Asfari, group chief executive, Petrofac Limited, added: “This is an important award for Petrofac. It both reinforces the growing business relationship we have with BG and it will provide our E&C division with its first major project in Tunisia.”
