Project summary
March 2009
Start date
2013
Completion
The El Merk project is now nearing completion. Shortly, oil will be introduced into the central processing facilities and the first oil train will be the first part of the facility to go through commissioning, stabilising and operating.
Once stabilised and performance tested ‘oil train 1’ will be operated by Sonatrach and Anadarko on behalf of the El Merk partners; serving as a significant production hub for the region. The balance of the CPF facilities will also go through start-up, stabilisation and testing in the same way.
The combined nominal capacity of the initially installed processing facilities will be:
- 98,000 barrels of oil per day
- 29,000 barrels of condensate per day
- 31,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day
- together with an NGL train with a nominal capacity of 600 million standard cubic feet per day
The CPF will also include 500 million standard cubic feet of residue and re-injection gas compression and approximately 80,000 barrels per day of produced water treatment and re-injection facilities.

Project Director
The project is now 70% construction complete and we are in the final stages of bulk construction. We have entered a phase of preparation to start pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and look forward to executing the remaining scope as planned. I would also like to mention that we enjoy a solid relationship with our customer and subcontractors , as it is as an inevitable part of the journey to project completion and hand over.
