Qatar represents a core market for Petrofac and the Company has been involved in executing no less than 10 projects in the country. A strong and longstanding relationship has been developed with the National Oil Company “Qatar Petroleum” and its venture companies. An engineering office is also established in Doha to support Qatar Petroleum, offering our customer conceptual, feasibility, FEED and detailed engineering services.
We are currently executing the gas sweetening facilities project worth over US$600 million for Qatar Petroleum in Messaieed and Dukhan. We also have an engineering services consultancy contract in place with Qatar Petroleum for providing conceptual and feasibility studies in the oil and gas sector.
During the execution of the gas sweetening facilities project, Petrofac also provided training to engineers from Qatar Petroleum:
- 11 assistants engineers trained
- 8 month assignment to Petrofac’s Sharjah office
- ‘hands-on’ experience acquired by the engineers during the design engineering phase of the project
Over the years we have enjoyed a strong relationship with our colleagues in Qatar Petroleum and naturally it would be our endeavour to continue the relationship - not only during this project but for the many future projects to be executed in Qatar, which is one of our core markets.
